Shenley Brook End School welcome you to come and join them in supporting their Year 11 students with this fun but vital event of speed interviewing. The students will move from one business volunteer to another business volunteer and spend 5/8 minutes interviewing YOU!! Yes, they will be asking you questions about your job, how you got to where you are, the highs and lows of your job! We are also equally adding an additional spin on this event. Before you attend we ask for a list of your academic qualifications and a small brief on your career journey so far. We will have a format which we will email to you before the event once you have booked on. This will give the students an insight into how many different job roles are out there in the world of work. YEAR 7 & 8 COFFEE SHOP ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE EVENT
The Coffee Shop enterprise day for Year 7 & 8 students. This event is a great opportunity to help highlight various areas in the working world. It will show case the hospitality industry along with marketing, design, team work, HR, Design, negotiation, finance etc We discuss what is new within this industry and what the customers demands are when visiting coffee shops . After various research we ask the students to get into their teams and then they have to design their own coffee shop. They first have to make plans on a small scale just with pencil. After that the fun begins with colours, paints, tissue paper, magazines, felt pens etc. It’s a really great day and the students learn so much. They will be looking at marketing, design, team work, communication skills, sales, sponsorship etc. We welcome the support from the business industry, not just experts in coffee and we have all pretty much been in a coffee shop , come along and help support the students. We believe that the students will also learn a lot from business input as well. It is a fun day and enjoyed by all. Tea and Coffee, cakes, Danishes, savouries will be made available throughout the day.

The Theme Park enterprise day for Year 8 students. This day is a great opportunity to help highlight various working areas in the working world. It will show case the theme park industry along with marketing, design, team work, HR, Design, negotiation, finance etc We discuss what is new within this industry and what the customers demands are now when visiting theme parks . After various research we ask the students to get into their teams and then they have to design their own theme park. They first have to make plans on a small scale just with pencil. Shenley Brook End School welcomes you to come in and join them in supporting their Year 8 students with this fun but vital event based on a series of questions that we would provide to students before the event (this will be printed out for the tables) students are encouraged to ask employers specific questions regarding skills and explain which curriculum subjects they are using in their career. Students would be presented with a card as they enter the event, which will be formatted to represent the theme, and would be encouraged to fill in information on their card, which they would then keep at the end of the session. You will work with a group of 4-6 students where they will still have 1-1 interview with you whilst the others observe and then they will swap round so they all have a turn at being interviewed. A generic job spec will be given to you beforehand to help give structure to the interview and I also have a list on typical interview questions that can also be used. We would very much welcome all your input with the interviews and for you to share your experiences and any odd questions that may have been asked of you at any interview you attended.
